Title: "You can't hide your lyin eyes"
Category: don't know
Blog Entry: I recommend listening to these songs and reading along with the lyrics. These two songs address the uncomfortable topic of infidelity. Its funny how artists can dress up these issues and make a beautiful song about them. I guess it really shows that some good can come from bad things. It also gives a great window into the soul of us as human beings. There is so much wisdom the lyrics of songs sometimes. If you just pay attention, you can learn a whole lot about the hearts of men and women.   The first song is another Bryan Adams song. No I am not some weird obsessed fan. lol. But I did grow up hearing these songs and they are a part of me in some way. Plus it happens to be downloaded on this computer.   I never knew what this song was about when I was a child of course. But now, listening to it as an adult, I can understand it so much more. -------- She says her love for me could never die But thatd change if she ever found out about you and I Oh - but her love is cold It wouldnt hurt her if she didnt know, cause... When it gets too much I need to feel your touch Im gonna run to you Im gonna run to you Cause when the feelins right Im gonna run all night Im gonna run to you Shes got a heart of gold shed never let me down But youre the one that always turns me on You keep me comin round I know her love is true But its so damn easy makin love to you I got my mind made up I need to feel your touch Im gonna run to you Ya - Im gonna run to you Cause when the feelins right Im gonna stay all night ---------------- Those are some powerful emotions and feelings. Having been in a relationship with someone who was not compatible physically with me, I can understand where he is coming from. I have never cheated. But there were times when I would reminisce about former lovers that were more compatible. I could imagine cheating or hurting my lover the way he does in this song. He is having that internal struggle that so many of us have: Do we have to make a choice between physical compatibility and the other stuff that makes a relationship work? The guy in the song says he has his mind made up. But really he hasnt. Its always just a promise..."When the feeling's right". Which is a perfect segue way to the next song. This time its a woman who is being unfaithful. She too is making promises to her lover about coming to him and staying forever. -------------- City girls just seem to find out early How to open doors with just a smile A rich old man And she won't have to worry She'll dress up all in lace and go in style   Late at night a big old house gets lonely I guess ev'ry form of refuge has its price And it breaks her heart to think her love is Only given to a man with hands as cold as ice   So she tells him she must go out for the evening To comfort an old friend who's feelin' down But he knows where she's goin' as she's leavin' She is headed for the cheatin' side of town   You can't hide your lyin' eyes And your smile is a thin disguise I thought by now you'd realize There ain't no way to hide your lyin eyes   On the other side of town a boy is waiting with fiery eyes and dreams no one could steal She drives on through the nice anticipating 'Cause he makes her feel the way she used to feel   She rushes to his arms, They fall together She whispers that it's only for awhile She swears that soon she'll be comin' back forever She pulls away and leaves him with a smile   You can't hide your lyin' eyes And your smile is a thin disguise I thought by now you'd realize There ain't no way to hide you lyin' eyes   She gets up and pours herself a strong one And stares out at the stars up in the sky Another night, it's gonna be a long one She draws the shade and hangs her head to cry   She wonders how it ever got this crazy She thinks about a boy she knew in school Did she get tired or did she just get lazy? She's so far gone she feels just like a fool   My, oh my, you sure know how to arrange things You set it up so well, so carefully Ain't it funny how your new life didn't change things You're still the same old girl you used to be   You can't hide your lyin eyes And your smile is a thin disguise I thought by now you'd realize There ain't no way to hide your lyin' eyes There ain't no way to hide your lyin' eyes Honey, you can't hide your lyin' eyes --------------- This was another song that I didnt understand the meaning to when I was a child.  I actually thought it was about LION eyes lol. And trying to hide them with sunglasses.   The tone of this song is a lot more depressing and sad than "Run To You" in my opinion. If you dont have the song playing...GET IT OUT! lol Anyways, I guess its the typical story of a rich man, marrying a woman who loves him only for his money. Or at least she doesnt want him physically by this stage of the relationship. Quite possibly he has lost interest in her as well. She feels lonely in that big house of theirs. She remembers times in her youth when passion was a more regular part of her life (man this is depressing to write about. lol). Anyways, she promises the lover she will come back one day forever. But most likely, just as in "Run to You", it will never happen. I guess making these promises helps everyone feel better for the moment...the promise of eventual love and companionship.
