camping trip, part three....

sorry for the gap, guys, my net got taken out by an idiot in a 13 foot truck. anyhoo, where was i? ah, fog rolling in, that's right. i was absolutely fascinated, that has got to be the coolest thing i've ever seen, lol. we just hung out at the site, marveling at how little visibility there was. lemme tell ya, when the rent on my beer was due, it took me a minute to get my bearings and find the bath-house, lmao. as we couldn't do much else, we continued downing beer and watching the fog. gradually it started to lighten up, and we got to watch the fog roll out again, lol. at that point, we checked the cooler, and realized we were beginning to run a little low on beer, lol. but wait, the Wayside had beer, so..... a-hiking we shall go! we decided to make a hike back to the Wayside, at least we'd get SOME hiking in, lol. the trek down was pretty uneventful, aside from me diving off into the bushes regularly to check deadfalls for an appropriate stick for Dan, lol. we picked up beer, and J picked out a few shotglasses, with bears on them. this will be funny in a minute, trust me. start hiking back, it's getting more humid by the second, and it ought to be noted that the AC at the Wayside was busted, too, so there was no relief except when we opened the cooler to grab the beer, lol. i finally find a deadfall with a potentially good stick to bring back for Dan, and we continue up the trail, mostly looking at our feet. the fog is starting to wisp thru the trees again, so we took a few shots up the trail, and continued on. i happen to glance up from my feet in time to see a HUGE black bear wandering across the trail! i made a very girly gasp and grabbed J to try to convey to grab the camera, lol. the bear obviously heard me, looked panicked for a second (i swear, i could hear him thinking "ack!! PEOPLE!!!!!" before crashing into the bushes, lol) and took off into the trees. course, me being a tomboy, soon as his tail cleared the trail, i was moving again, trying to get another good look before he disappeared, lol. we got one blurry shot of a dark lump amongst the trees, lol, but i swear, that's the bear's hind end, lol. more later today in part four....
