Hello, all. Tonight, the black community will present a national presidential partisan forum (hosted by Tavis Smiley and PBS) for the Republicans. Weeks ago, the same was accomplished for Democrats.
I am a Democrat under duress...since I must choose in order to vote locally, I choose the one that offends my sensibilities least. Believe me, it's a close call.
In actuality, I'm quite independent; I'm a thinker. As I await the debate tonight, I have a sense of apathy to hear what the Republicans have to say. Oh, I'm proud of the ones who have pledged to participate and share their views. However, the so-called frontrunners are not attending. How absurd and insulting. Essentially, the party has told me and my demographic that I am not needed for them to become the party nominee. Do they know something I don't?
And so, with my not-so-important vote, I figure I will have more important things to do besides re-register as a Republican or to vote for one of them. By the way, I have been known to cast Republican votes locally. I vote for the plan, the person, the perseverance...party be damned.
While in all honesty, I'll sit and watch, I doubt I'll call friends to discuss it. I'm unmotivated. Perhaps there will be a surprise worthy of my attention and admiration. Let's be hopeful.
