I just found out I am going to get to go to Scotland for ten days next summer! I am so excited! Has anyone ever been? If so, do you have any don't miss locations?
Hiring someone to drive you through the Highlands in a must. The area is so incredibly beautiful-I've never seen anything like it. It's helpful to hire someone because the roads can be very narrow and big tour buses aren't that uncommon. Someone who knows the area will be able to navigate you safely through some very tight spots.

What a wonderful world
While in the Highlands, I would suggest a trip to the tiny island of Iona. You have to go there by ferry from the Isle of Mull. It is a beautiful little place. The Columba Hotel (or Inn, I can't remember) is a place to stay if you want to stay the night.

Old Glory
Make sure you get to go up to the Shetland Isles. It has some very pretty natural areas and lots of wildlife.
There is also a hotel that was a manor house. It is really awesome because it is in the shape of a pineapple. I hope I get to go back some day soon since that country is so beautiful.
