When I was young my father told me of a car accident he survived where he had an out-of-body experience. He said that his awareness as an individual was floating above his own physical body. There was a bright light and a warm presence (like similar stories), but no angels. He said he heard a voice say, "Now is not your time. Go back." And the next thing he knew he was back in his body, in pain on the ground.
My did is completely sane and not a yarn spinner. I believe that he sincerely believes the accident happened as he said. I don't know the reason why, but I have faith that we are more than our physical beings. It may be possible to detach or to engage a spiritual realm we don't quite understand.
