How much does an average household spend in out of pocket medical expenses? It seems like ours are really high and our employer may not be paying that much.

I actually just read a report on that in a magazine. If I remember correctly, an average family will spend around $2400 while the company will spend an average of $14000.

I dont pay a lot out of pocket for healthcare, just a ten dollar fee for doc visits and a small percentage of prescriptions.  Luckily we have pretty good coverage through our employer so we don't have to worry about paying so much or that often.
