Does anyone know what a fund is? I hear the term all the time but can't seem to get a grip on what it means.

A fund is basically a company that is devoted to investing money in the stock market. You give the fund money and they invest it for you. It basically eliminates some of the need to do research. You need to research the funds and compare them to others, but you don't have to research each individual stock.
