If you find a lump in your breast, does it automatically mean you have cancer? I was talking to a friend who inisists that it is, but I don't think that's right.

No, it doesn't automatically mean you have breast cancer, but regardless, you should have it checked out.

It could be a cyst or other mass. But, yes, absolutely have it checked! There isn't any sense taking chances, especially since insurance should cover the exam and mammogram.

Well either way they have to take it out and when they do they will check it. My mom had a pretty large mass in her right side that hurt her and she had removed. It turned out to just be a lump of fatty tissue and thankfully wasnt cancer.

I don't want to scare anyone but definitely get it checked out. Better safe than sorry.
Also make sure to have exams and mammograms(as directed by your doctor).
My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in late 1991. She had had her last mammogram in 1988. I don't know what her doctor reccommended. She also complained that her mammograms hurt since she was small-breasted. Despite her fight, she's been dead 15 years. She died a week before her 50th birthday.
Stay safe everyone.
