I think that it is okay as long as you are burning wood and not stuff that has a lot of chemicals in it. It will dry the heck out of your skin,but other than that I think it's okay.

I think it is a good idea, certainly brings down the amount of money that you end up spending on the gas bill.  I wonder which is worse environmentally, the amount of heat you use and waste that is caused from the fire that is burned off with wood or the power that it takes to heat your home.

There shouldnt be a problem with it as long as you use one of those closed wood burning stoves where all the fumes go up and out of the house.  Those are great cuz they warm a house but dont leave the super woody smell that an open burning fireplace would.
