That is the one thing I absolutely cannot stand and will not tolerate. Once they start fighting, they start losing privileges left and right. My youngest decided she was going to start yelling at my oldest this summer. Once she had to sit out at the pool for 5 minutes each time it occurred, it stopped pretty quickly!

Do you think that's maybe a little bit too controlling? Aren't kids supposed to learn to work things out in order to learn how to work things out when they get to be older? I don't want my kids to learn to just keep their mouths shut every time they disagree with what someone says or someone says something offensive to them.

What a wonderful world
I think both of you have a point. Kids need to learn how to resolve conflicts, but at the same time they need guidance from adults to make sure they do it the right way.
Maybe before you put them in a time out work with them to resolve the issue, if it continues then use the time out. But even then, after the time out is through talk with them about why they are upset or angry.
