Why are some of us blessed with large breasts, a feature so extreme and different from other women? I'm not talking about in the biological or philosophical sense, but rather the scientific evolutionary sense. What was the "survival-of-the-fittest" advantage to having such a large and distinguishing feature?
"I think it is because we are more evolved.." - Excerpt from Below
I have heard that women with large breasts do not make more milk than other women. That makes sense because what makes our breasts bigger is the amount of fatty tissue, not milk making glands. So our large breasts didnt evolve to create more milk.
What could the reason be? I think it is because we are more evolved homo sapiens :-) Dont laugh, I am serious. Look at our closest relatives, the apes and monkeys.
Their breasts are flat unless they are lactating and even then, they are not what we would consider breasts.
Studying anthropolgy, I learned that as soon as our ancestors started to walk upright, the female breasts started to play more of a visual sexual role in mating. Following the rules of "survival-of-the-fittest", the women that were most attractive to males, reproduced the most and passed on their genes. Certain traits were favored over others. The trend went from flat apes to humans with breasts. The breasts went from size 0 to a size. And then from a size to sizes like A, B, C and larger. I am sure flat apes didnt go to F and G cup women like ourselves directly. It was a gradual process. A process of evolution.
In that process, we bustier women are "newer". "Newer" in evolutionary terms means, better adapted and superior.
